Hylo Fitness is preparing to open its first Charlotte location at 933 Louise Avenue, Suite 101, franchise owner Stella Caruso told WhatNow Charlotte in a recent interview. The boutique fitness concept is currently targeting an early fall opening.
The upcoming gym will take over part of the former Catawba Brewing space in Plaza Midwood, according to recent reporting by the Charlotte Business Journal. Caruso said construction is underway, although an exact opening date has not yet been finalized.
Unlike traditional fitness studios that focus on a single workout format, Hylo combines two distinct training environments under one membership. Caruso said members will have access to a high-intensity studio centered on HIIT-style workouts, as well as a separate low-impact studio offering classes such as Pilates, barre and yoga.
“What makes us different is that members get access to both experiences with one membership,” Caruso said. “Some days people want a high-intensity workout, and other days they may want something lower impact. We wanted to create a space where they can do both.”
According to Caruso, the concept is designed to appeal to a broad range of fitness levels while fostering a strong sense of community among members.
“We really want this to feel welcoming,” she said. “Whether someone is new to fitness or has been working out for years, we want them to feel comfortable walking through the door and finding their place here.”
The Charlotte location will also feature beverages for members and plans for community-focused outdoor events. While the current focus remains on launching the Plaza Midwood studio, Caruso said additional locations could be considered in the future if demand supports further expansion.
