Charlotte Running Co. plans to relocate its Dilworth store to Park Road Shopping Center at 4243 Park Road in Charlotte, according to reporting by Axios Charlotte. The retailer is targeting a fall 2026 opening in a storefront formerly occupied by Bruegger’s Bagels and Caribou Coffee.
Axios reports that the new location will span approximately 4,600 square feet, compared with about 2,400 square feet at the company’s current Dilworth store.
Founder Scott Dvorak told Axios that the new store is being designed to offer more than a traditional retail experience. Plans call for amenities geared toward local runners, including spaces where customers can gather before and after workouts and community events.
The move will place Charlotte Running Co. within one of the city’s most established shopping destinations. Park Road Shopping Center opened in 1956 as Charlotte’s first open-air shopping center and today features a mix of local businesses and national brands, according to the center’s website.
According to co-owner Harry Chandler, the company plans to continue growing as a community hub with a full recovery center featuring physical therapists, chiros, coffee and wine bar. “We will also be offering seating and some of the best technical and performance footwear and apparel in the industry,” he said.
Charlotte Running Co. has served the Charlotte market for more than two decades. According to the company’s website, the retailer currently operates four locations across the region and offers running and walking footwear, apparel, accessories, training resources, and community programming. The company also hosts regular group runs, training opportunities, and events that help connect runners of varying experience levels.
If plans move forward as anticipated, the Park Road Shopping Center location will provide the company with a substantially larger footprint as it continues to grow its presence in its hometown market.
