Having already created hit concepts Taqueria Ramirez and Carnitas Ramirez, restaurateur Giovanni Cervantes is part of the team looking to open the seafood-centric spot in the West Village called El Camaron Peludo. It will be located at 20 Cornelia St., a long, narrow space that used to be the Silver Apricot, a Chinese-inflected restaurant. Preview dishes posted to the restaurant’s Instagram page show upscale dishes made with premium ingredients. According to a filing with Community Board 2, the owners are seeking a beer and wine license. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New York has reached out for more information.

The CB 2 filing shows that the restaurant will be a small space, primarily bar seating for 12 guests and table seating for 4 guests. A proposed menu included with the filing included dishes such as shrimp aguachile, tuna tostada, and sardine tacos.
