Summer of 2026 is bringing a taste of New Orleans right to Northern Virginia’s own backyard. Beignets and Brew is baking up its delicious titular pastries in the Herndon Centre, and locals will be able to stop in for a great cup of coffee and a sweet treat late next month.
Construction is well underway on the chain’s new 348 Elden Street home. The eatery will span 1,500 square feet and have seats for up to 24 guests.
Beignets and Brew’s Herndon location is in good hands; franchisee Travis Loan brings both a wealth of experience with franchising and a personal passion for the concept to the project, which he kindly set aside some to detail to What Now DC.
“I am an area developer for the brand so we’re going to be expanding all over,” he says. “Herndon’s always been a staple for Northern Virginia.”
Loan was already a hospitality veteran when Beignets and Brew pinged his radar. He explains: “I’ve been in the franchising industry for over a decade with Tropical Smoothie Cafe and the founder shared this new concept he was designing and I fell in love with it.”
And what a concept it turned out to be. Beignets and Brew brings something both comfortingly familiar and excitingly unique to the fast-casual dining scene. The stars are, of course, the beignets, a delicious, fluffy French-style pastry, akin to a donut. The bakery’s menu offers a range of these delectable treats alongside a variety of dipping sauces.
The coffee selection is equally certain to delight, and will satisfy every craving, from traditional hot java to decadent frozen concoctions.
Herndon foodies will be able to taste for themselves when Beignets and Brew opens its doors on June 20.
Loan is committed to spreading the chain’s fare to as wide an audience as possible. He explains: “We’re under construction in Springfield and we have a lease signed in Fredericksburg and we’re looking in Gainesville. My lofty goal is in the next 7 years to have 50 stores open from southwest Virginia up into a sliver of DC.”
For now, he’s focused on successfully launching the Herndon location, a project he’s approaching with enthusiasm. He states: “We’re excited to be a part of the community there and can’t wait to open.”
