Hometeam Pizza, founded by Samantha and Kevin Jackson, is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant at 2017 Belmont Boulevard, Nashville.

According to a recent Instagram post from Hometeam Pizza, the restaurant is targeting an August 12 opening following months of renovations to the former Athens Family Restaurant space.

“We know it’s been longer than expected, but we’re finally on the home stretch,” the company shared on Instagram. “Working with such a historic building has presented many challenges, but we’re lucky to have the team we do to get us this far. Obviously things can still adjust, but we’re still on the way!”

According to the Nashville Business Journal, Hometeam Pizza was launched during the pandemic and has spent the past four years operating from a shared kitchen in Sylvan Park. The Belmont location will provide the company with its first permanent brick-and-mortar restaurant.

The new location occupies a space next to International Market and marks a significant milestone for the locally owned concept as it transitions into a dedicated storefront.

According to the Nashville Business Journal, the owners envision the restaurant as a warm, family-friendly gathering place where residents, students, families, and friends can gather over a meal. The concept serves a menu of classic and specialty scratch-made pizzas, including The Italian, a customer favorite topped with crispy pepperoni, Italian sausage, sweet ricotta cream, roasted garlic olive oil, and parmesan cheese. Dessert offerings include buckeyes, chocolate-covered peanut butter treats inspired by Midwestern traditions.

The publication also reports that Hometeam Pizza’s crowdfunding campaign attracted more than 160 backers and raised over $51,000 as the company worked toward opening its first permanent restaurant.

Once open, the Belmont restaurant will establish a long-term home for the concept and bring another locally owned dining option to one of Nashville’s most active neighborhood corridors.
