Mexican food is making a triumphant return to a downtown Bethesda storefront later this year. Northern Virginia favorite Taco Bamba is heading to the Woodmont Triangle space that previously housed Casa Oaxaca, reports Bethesda Today.
The restaurant space at 4905 Fairmont Avenue has been awaiting a new tenant since Casa Oaxaca closed its doors last November. Taco Bamba owner chef Victor Albisu signed the lease for the storefront earlier this week, taking a definitive and important step towards introducing the concept’s next location.
The building has a great deal to offer; in addition to 1,850 square feet of interior dining space, the restaurant has a 2,000 square foot outdoor patio, and both indoor and outdoor bars. The website explains that thorough renovations are required to craft Taco Bamba’s Bethesda location, saying: “We’re stripping the new space down to the studs and building it back up in red and black.”
Albisu explains the appeal of the location, calling it “Downtown, walkable, a real dining neighborhood. And with this space, we had a chance to get back to something a little rawer, closer to what the brand looked and felt like in the early days. We see the large outdoor patio as a special opportunity.”
Taco Bamba does not have a hard opening date set for the new restaurant, however it is on track to be customer-ready by autumn of this year.
Future Bethesda regulars can look forward to a menu full of delicious Mexican options, including, of course, a full range of tacos. Each location has a menu unique to it, and Albisu and his team are working on finalizing Bethesda’s options.
