An acclaimed Seattle burger chain is expanding its footprint with plans to open an 11th location.
The new Dick’s Drive-In will be located on the Tulalip Reservation, west of I-5 at Exit 199 and directly across from Quil Ceda Creek Casino, according to a press release.
Dick Spady, Warren Ghormley and Dr. B.O.A. Thomas opened the first Dick’s Drive-In in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood in 1954. More than 70 years later, the company has grown to 10 locations, including restaurants on Broadway, Holman Road, Lake City, Queen Anne, Edmonds, Kent, Crossroads, Federal Way and Everett.
“Dick’s Drive-In has been a beloved Pacific Northwest institution, and we are honored to welcome them as a new business to Tulalip,” Hazen Shopbell, chairman of the Tulalip Tribes Board of Directors, said in a statement.
The restaurant is known for its fresh, never-frozen 1/8-pound beef patties and locally sourced buns. Guests can order burgers with a single or double patty, fully dressed or plain, alongside hand-cut fries made from Pacific Northwest potatoes.
For those with a sweet tooth, the menu also features milkshakes and ice cream in flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate chip, rocky road, huckleberry, chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies & cream.
The Tulalip location aims to continue the company’s longstanding tradition of quality food, fast service and community connection.
“It is such a pleasure to work with the Tulalip Tribe on this restaurant. It’s wonderful to partner with a community that shares our values and understands multigenerational stewardship,” President and CEO Jasmine Donovan said in a statement.
Shopbell echoed the enthusiasm surrounding the partnership, stating the two organizations share values rooted in “community investment, quality employment, and long-term regional growth.”
An official opening date has not been announced, but construction is already underway after crews broke ground June 8. Visit the Dick’s Drive-In website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
