A Dallas-based restaurant known for its wine-on-tap programme is preparing to make its San Antonio debut this summer.
Sixty Vines plans to open its first Alamo City location on August 10 at The Shops at La Cantera, according to Chief Executive Officer Jeff Carcara, who told WhatNow San Antonio.
The wine-country-inspired concept was first announced earlier this year, bringing its signature tap wine system, seasonal menu, and full-service dining experience to one of San Antonio’s busiest retail destinations. The concept will be located at 15900 La Cantera Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78256.
While speaking to WhatNow San Antonio, Carcara said the following:
“We are a Texas-based company, and we have several restaurants already in San Antonio. We’ve just loved the market there around La Cantera, so it was a natural fit for us to add another one of our restaurants to the area.”
According to Carcara, the opportunity has been years in the making after representatives from La Cantera approached the company about bringing the brand to the centre.
The upcoming restaurant will feature a design element unique to San Antonio. Guests can expect a glass-enclosed patio space with a double-sided bar connecting the indoor dining room and the patio area.
“We call it a greenhouse,” Carcara said. “The room itself will be glass all around it, and that’s unique for us to build and unique to San Antonio.”
Founded in Dallas, Sixty Vines has built its reputation around a wine-on-tap system designed to keep wines fresh while allowing guests to sample a variety of pours. The concept currently operates locations across multiple states and offers a menu inspired by wine regions around the world, including California, Italy, Spain, and France.
While wine remains at the centre of the experience, Carcara emphasised that Sixty Vines is more than a traditional wine bar.
“We have a full bar, we make craft cocktails, and wine countries inspire our cuisine from around the world,” he said.
Popular menu items across the brand include truffled vineyard fries, burrata, fried chicken and caviar, pork chops, and the restaurant’s signature Chicken Pasta Carbonara-style dishes. Fan-favourite wine selections include the Fifty Fifty red blend and Lovelock Sauvignon Blanc.
The San Antonio restaurant will feature the same core menu found across the brand’s existing locations, though seasonal offerings are updated several times each year.
Looking ahead, Carcara said the company sees strong potential in the San Antonio market and may consider additional locations in the future.
“Ever since coming out of the pandemic, San Antonio has been one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation,” he said. “Just being part of the energy and the growth that’s going on in that city is exciting.”
As opening day approaches, the team is focused on delivering a strong first impression.
“We take our time in building the business,” Carcara said. “It’s important that in those first 90 days we execute at a very high level and create great word-of-mouth.”
The upcoming opening will mark Sixty Vines’ first location in San Antonio and further expand the brand’s presence across Texas.
