After over three decades, a popular local amusement destination in Atlanta is closing its doors. The company said it is working to support employees as the park winds down operations. The park will remain open through Aug. 2 before permanently closing.
Fun Spot America to Permanently Close Atlanta Location
Fun Spot America’s closure comes after the local park operated for 36 years, marking the end of an era for residents across metro Atlanta.
Fun Spot America is a family-owned amusement park located in Fayetteville, Georgia. It offers a mix of roller coasters, go-karts, family rides, arcade games, and batting cages. The park features attractions designed for both families and thrill-seekers.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the park opened in 1990 as Dixieland Fun Park. It became part of the Fun Spot America chain in 2017 when it was acquired and rebranded. It is a relatively compact theme park, which makes it easy to experience most attractions in a few hours.
Although small, Fun Spot in Atlanta became a destination for coaster enthusiasts after opening ArieForce One in 2023. It was also considered the park’s signature attraction. The announcement does not say what will happen to the coaster or the rest of the park rides after the closure.
Over the years, the park has welcomed millions of guests, creating lasting memories for families. Fun Spot America CEO John Arie Jr. described the closure as an “extremely difficult decision.” He also thanked the community for its support over the years.
What Visitors Need to Know
Despite the closure announcement, the park will remain open through Aug. 2. The operations will continue on its regular schedule.
Season passes and gift cards will remain valid at the Atlanta park until it closes. After the closure, eligible season passes and gift cards will be accepted at other Fun Spot America locations. Guests still have time to visit the park before its final day of operations.
