Here are Atlanta Restaurants that Closed in June
Three Metro Atlanta restaurants announced permanent closures in June, citing reasons ranging from financial hardship to rising operating costs. Here’s a closer look at the businesses that closed and what led to their decisions.
Mother’s Best

Mother’s Best in Decatur permanently closed in June. The restaurant served fried chicken, sandwiches, and Southern-inspired sides. The restaurant closed after multiple equipment failures created financial challenges for the business.
The restaurant posted on social media, “After substantial income lost from a few catastrophic equipment failures we have made the decision to let someone else take over our cozy little space in downtown Decatur. We are grateful to everyone that has stepped through our doors for a bucket and a beer. Look for future MB pop ups and events around town.”
Many of the restaurant’s recipes were inspired by the founders’ childhood. It included the signature fried chicken sandwich, 3 Juicy Breaded Tenders, and L.A.-Style Red Beans & Spice Rice. It also included Collard Green Coleslaw and Frozen Irish Coffee.
Closing Date: June 18

Nàdair

Nàdair in North Druid Hills closed in June. The restaurant earned recognition from the Michelin Guide for its Scottish-Southern cuisine. The restaurant cited economic reasons for its closure.
The company said, “We have been fortunate to work alongside a lot of incredible people that helped us create our own brand of hospitality. We adjusted as the world changed, pivoted when we had to, and through all of that this team remained steadfast in being hospitable, building relationships with local purveyors and creating memorable experiences for our guests; however, we just can’t seem to achieve the economics needed to continue to do so.”
Nàdair served a seasonally rotating wood-fired prix-fixe menu featuring Scottish-Southern cuisine. Menu offerings included the Riverview Farms Pork Chop, Pan-Fried Trout, and Grandma Coylene’s Banoffee Pie.

Guac y Margys

Guac y Margys closed its two locations in Atlanta in June. The taqueria and margarita bar was known for its vibrant social atmosphere and creative menu. According to the owners, rising operating costs and increased competition contributed to the decision to close.
The restaurant said, “Our last day of operations for both locations is this Sunday, June 28. Rising costs and competition have always been a challenge for restaurants, especially in Atlanta, and we are no exception.”
Guac y Margys was popular for its Guac & Spicy Queso, Beef Barbacoa Tacos, and Cauliflower Tacos. Its fresh-ingredient cocktails made from scratch and themed nights elevated its popularity. Here is more information on the closure.
Closing Date: June 28
The three closures reflected continued changes across Metro Atlanta’s dining scene.
