Black Rock Coffee Bar, an Oregon-based coffee chain, is being considered for a new location in Oceanside at 1920 Oceanside Boulevard.

The company recently submitted documents to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. The proposed location could replace Alberto’s Mexican Food, which is currently operating at the site. It remains unclear whether the plans will move forward or when a potential opening might occur. If the project is approved, customers can expect Black Rock Coffee Bar’s lineup of coffee drinks, energy beverages, teas, and all-day breakfast items.

Founded in 2008 in Beaverton, Oregon, Black Rock Coffee Bar began as a 160-square-foot drive-thru coffee stand. Since then, the company has expanded into hundreds of locations across multiple states, including California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. The brand already operates several locations throughout San Diego County, including Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, and Pacific Beach.

Black Rock Coffee Bar focuses on building community through its coffee shops while continuing to expand across the western and southern United States. The permit filing suggests the company is exploring another opportunity in San Diego County, although no official announcement has been made regarding the proposed Oceanside location.

The menu features espresso beverages, cold brew, blended drinks, chai, matcha, teas, and the company’s Fuel Energy drinks. Customers can also choose from breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and other grab-and-go breakfast items served throughout the day.

If the proposal moves forward, this will be another strong landing spot for Black Rock Coffee Bar as the company continues to expand throughout Southern California. For now, the filing serves only as an indication of the company’s interest in the property, and additional details have not been announced.
