The closing of Mod Pizza’s Reston location is sad news for many pizza-loving diners. Fortunately one of the DMV’s top pizzerias is ensuring no resident goes pie-less for long. Andy’s Pizza, recently named the region’s “Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year”, will be taking over Mod’s storefront once the latter restaurant vacates it later this year, reports local media outlet FFXNow.

Though Mod has not yet shuttered its 11642 Plaza America Drive-and, indeed, is not expected to do so until late September-Andy’s is laying the foundation for its takeover of the space. The acclaimed pizza restaurant has filed building plans with Fairfax County that show the Andy’s does intend to change the interior of the storefront.

Andy’s will be inheriting a 2,963 square foot space, with room to accommodate around 100 guests. Seating will be a combination of high tops, booths, and regular tables.

Andy’s has enjoyed well-earned success across the DMV, creating fans wherever it sets up shop-and it has set up quite a few shops. The upcoming Reston location will be Andy’s 16th home, and while a precise opening timeline is not yet available, the pizzeria could be open before the year is out. What Now DC will update readers as opening details become more established.
