A new Mexican restaurant has been in the works at 10 S Pinellas Avenue in Tarpon Springs for some time. “Estd. 2019,” reads the website of Catalina’s La Cantina, the new restaurant in question. “Tarpon Springs’ newest Mexican restaurant is opening soon during the second half of 2021! Stay tuned for more details.”
2021! Time flies! Furthermore, the restaurant already has several years of reviews on Google Maps, most of which express a desire to see Catalina’s La Cantina finally get open.
This week, however, What Now came across plan review documents submitted by Catalina’s La Cantina LLC for the restaurant at the South Pinellas Avenue address, indicating that, at long last, an opening is in the works.
The website promises “50 Tequilas & Six Taps,” “Fresh Tamales Daily,” and a scratch menu with dishes switched up daily and plenty of vegetarian options.
What Now was unable to reach a representative of Catalina’s La Cantina on Wednesday to ask about plans for the opening and how the concept may have evolved during the last few years.
