Joya Supermarket is preparing to open Joya Taqueria inside its new grocery store at 388-390 Grand Ave., South San Francisco. According to a California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control license filing, Joya Supermarket 2 Inc. has taken over the property. Owner Frinneth Rueda confirmed to What Now that the business officially assumed the space and is planning renovations and new additions throughout the year.
Rueda said the grocery store will operate under the name Joya Supermarket and will offer a selection of grocery items from multiple Latin American countries, including Mexico, Peru, and Guatemala. According to Rueda, customers can also expect fresh produce, dairy products, laundry supplies, and fresh pan dulce prepared daily in the store’s bakery.
The taqueria is scheduled to open in January with the initial menu including tacos, burritos, and quesabirrias. The business also plans to add a deli counter at the front of the store.
“We’ll also add a deli counter at the front of the store serving Mexican tortas and other sandwiches. Our goal is to offer food and grocery products from across Latin America, including Mexican, Peruvian, and Guatemalan specialties.”
According to Rueda, additional renovations and product offerings will be introduced as work on the market continues.
