A landmark burrito chain is permanently saying goodbye. Boloco has announced that its final Boston location will close on September 25. The closure will end the chain’s nearly three-decade presence in the region.
Last Boloco Location Is Closing
Boloco is a popular New England-style fast-casual restaurant that specializes in traditional burritos. Through a social media post, the restaurant team shared the heartbreaking news of the closure.
Located at 50 Congress Street, Boston, the restaurant will be closing its doors on September 25, 2026. This is the last remaining location of the burrito chain.
The team said the building has been sold and is being converted into residential space.
The team invited the community to visit and added, “Every day until then, open or closed, you can expect any number of not-so-clever reasons to come back one more time.”
Before closing, the restaurant plans to offer returning menu favorites, free burritos, and additional promotions. More information will be available soon.
Following the announcement, customers expressed their disappointment on social media.
One of the customers commented, “So many amazing memories made, people met, mouths fed, money raised, and miles cycled while working at Boloco. It was such a pivotal point in my life, both personally and professionally. Thank you!”
“This is breaking my heart!! Been a loyal customer since The Wrap days on Newbury St.,” said another customer.

Story Behind the Chain
Founded in 1997, the chain was originally named Under Wraps and opened its first location near Berklee College of Music. Over the years, the restaurant gained popularity and expanded to 22 locations, including New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and several others.
According to a Boston news report, the chain started to downsize its locations. In 2020, the restaurant closed eight locations. “Last year it closed its second-to-last restaurant near Boston Children’s Hospital, leaving the Congress Street shop as its only location,” stated the report.
The closure of the last location of Boloco in Boston will have a significant impact on the dining community.
