A New York City favorite is expanding beyond the Empire State for the first time, with a new location coming to Boston later this year.
Fumo, the popular Italian restaurant known for its wood-fired pizzas, fresh pastas, and affordable daily specials, is preparing to open at 9 Park Street Place in Beacon Hill. Co-founder Steven Gallo recently teased the expansion on Instagram, sharing a photo of the under-construction space with the caption, “On to Boston…. Fumo coming soon #beaconhill @eatfumo.”
Launched in 2016 by Steven and Francesco Capolongo, Fumo has grown into a collection of six restaurants across New York, earning a loyal following with its approachable Italian fare, weekend brunch, house cocktails, and welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. The restaurant is part of Day 1 Hospitality, which also operates Uncle Tony’s Pizza, Fumo Caffè e Vino, and The Inn by Fumo.
Gallo told What Now Boston that the Beacon Hill restaurant will seat approximately 80 guests, with plans to pursue permits for outdoor dining as well.
Boston diners can expect the same menu served at Fumo’s New York locations, including the restaurant’s popular $14 pasta special, available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for lunch, as well as during dinner service on Sundays and Mondays. Signature dishes include the Penne Vodka, Baked Ziti, Margherita Pizza, Vodka Pizza, Prosciutto Panini, Steak & Fries, and the Fumo Burger.
Gallo said Beacon Hill’s mix of residents, office workers, and tourists makes it a natural fit for the concept. “Fumo has always been the go-to neighborhood spot in NYC for the simple reasons of quality, atmosphere, and reasonable pricing that allows guests to come on a weekly basis, and we hope to do the same in Beacon Hill,” he said. “You can come on a first date or with a large group and find something for everyone.”
The Beacon Hill restaurant is expected to open in mid-fall 2026, marking an exciting milestone as Fumo expands beyond New York for the very first time.
