Queer/Bar is preparing to reopen at 1518 11th Ave. in Capitol Hill under new co-owners Dustin Akers and Scott Walent.
The venue temporarily closed in July during the ownership transition and plans to return later this summer, according to an announcement shared on Instagram. An exact reopening date has not been announced.
The owners describe the work as a refresh, not a full remodel. The changes will focus on making the bar more adaptable for events and performances and more comfortable for guests.
Queer/Bar will remain a queer-owned and operated space centered on nightlife, performance, culture, and community. The new owners also plan to work closely with local entertainers, artists, and other creatives as they shape the venue’s next chapter.
Drag and live entertainment will continue to be central to Queer/Bar. The venue plans to bring back weekly karaoke, trivia, sports viewing events, drag programming, and performance art. Its kitchen will also reopen with a new menu.
The new team is inviting local performers, artists, and community members to contribute ideas for future events and programming.
