One of America’s most iconic western and denim brands is heading to Austin’s South Congress corridor. According to public filings, Wrangler is planning a new location at 1612 South Congress Ave. The new store will span 1,625-square-foot space and will serve as a Wrangler’s U.S. flagship store, according to a developer announcement.
What Now Austin reached out to Wrangler’s representatives to inquire about the opening timeline but did not receive a response prior to publication. However, construction is targeted for completion on early November 2026.
Wrangler is known for its western-cut denim, workwear, and outdoor apparel, a heritage that may align naturally with Austin’s growing western lifestyle retail scene. The brand currently operates stores at Fort Worth Stockyards and in its hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina, making the South Congress location its most prominent retail presence to date.
What Now Austin has previously covered the western retail wave on South Congress, including Tecovas’ upcoming College Station debut.
