After three decades of service, a beloved Italian bistro is preparing to close soon. The Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro will be closing its Quincy location this weekend. The closure decision was led by the restaurant owner’s desire to retire in order to focus on health and spend time with family.
Final Week Begins for Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro
A family-owned restaurant, Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro was founded by Gerry Gennaro in 1994. It is popularly known for serving home-style Italian cooking and large portions. The restaurant has served Italian cuisine to Quincy diners for more than three decades.
The restaurant was initially known as Gennaro’s Eatery, named after Gerry’s father. Later, it was named Gennaro & Son Italian Bistro.
On social media, the restaurant announced that its final day of service will be Saturday, August 8. Talking about its journey, the team wrote, “We’ve built something we never could have imagined. A lifetime of cherished memories. Friendships that have lasted decades. Regulars who feel like family.”
The restaurant explained that the owner, Gerry, decided to take a break. He aims to focus on his health, which is why the restaurant “made the difficult decision to close Gennaro & Son.”
The team thanked customers and the Quincy community for their support throughout the restaurant’s 31 years in business.
