Karma Asian Fusion is expanding to Boston’s South End.
The upscale fusion chain is slated to take over the former site of Oishii at 1166 Washington Street, Unit 110, according to an Instagram update from Bret Clancy. After two decades in the space, Oishii closed its doors in late June 2026.
Founded in 2006 by local chef Iverson Guo, Karma Asian Fusion has grown into a six-location restaurant group with outposts in Westford, Wellesley, Concord, Winchester, Andover, and Burlington. The restaurants combine sushi and traditional Asian comfort food with a fusion-driven approach, offering an extensive menu designed to pull flavors and techniques from across Asia and beyond.
Sushi is at the heart of the menu, with a broad selection of specialty and classic rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. Standouts include the Kobe Roll, made with shrimp tempura, avocado, and fried onion and topped with Wagyu beef, truffle aioli, and poke sauce; the Lemon Basil Salmon, pairing spicy salmon and cucumber with avocado, lemon, basil oil, and microgreens; and the Snow Mountain Maki, which combines crispy shrimp tempura, cucumber, and avocado with real snow crab meat.
Beyond the sushi bar, Karma’s menu includes vegetable and seafood dishes, rice and noodle plates, appetizers, and other shareable options. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices are also available, along with an ever-changing selection of craft cocktails designed to complement the menu’s Asian-inspired flavors.
“Our goal has always been to cultivate new and evolving flavors through a fusion of Asian cuisine and a diverse palate consisting of European origins,” Karma’s website states. “Karma provides an experience that will awaken your senses and envelop your mouth with an array of tastes. Known for our exquisite sushi selection, we bring new, exciting options to each dining experience and couple them with traditional Asian comfort food.”
In addition to Karma, Guo operates Yoshida Omakase in Boston’s Back Bay. An official opening timeline for the new Karma Asian Fusion restaurant has not yet been announced. What Now Boston has reached out to the team for additional details and will share updates as they become available.
