Miami-based smash-burger chain Skinny Louie is expanding in New York City. The restaurant will open its fifth New York City location in the Penn District. The new restaurant will offer the brand’s signature Black Angus smash burgers, fries, and milkshakes.
Skinny Louie Expands to Penn District
Skinny Louie at PENN 1 East Plaza will open its doors on August 14, according to a report by QSR Magazine. To celebrate the opening day, the first 100 guests in line will receive a free single-patty Skinny Louie Cheeseburger.
The opening will expand Skinny Louie’s Manhattan footprint to five locations. The Penn District location joins its existing New York City restaurants in NoMad, the West Village, the Upper East Side, and the East Village.
According to the official page, Skinny Louie is planning a Park Slope location inspired by the neighborhood’s street art and city energy. Additional details, including an opening date, have not yet been announced.
The restaurant is located near Penn Station, one of New York City’s busiest transit hubs. It is expected to serve commuters, office professionals, residents, and people visiting the area.
Skinny Louie was established in the Wynwood neighborhood in Miami. The brand has taken a minimalist approach to offering a simple menu of smash burgers with 100% fresh Black Angus beef.
Skinny Louie fans also enjoy crispy fries, home-brewed Louie Sauce, and milkshakes at the restaurants. Menu items include the Skinny Louie Cheeseburger, Classic Burger, and Applewood Bacon Burger, with options to substitute an Impossible patty or gluten-free bun.
The fast-growing chain has also earned industry recognition. In 2025, its “Very Best Burger” won top honors at both the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash and the NYC Wine & Food Festival Burger Bash.
In a relatively short span of time, the Miami-based burger joint has established itself in Manhattan in five locations. It keeps expanding its presence in one of the nation’s most competitive restaurant markets, bringing its award-winning smash burgers.
