The mall south of Detroit has something refreshing on the way.
From recent social media posts, Galaxy Boba is a new concept from local Dennis Barger coming to The Mall of Monroe. This will be a half boba shop-half coffee shop business. Barger told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open sometime in early to mid-October.
Barger also owns Wonderworld Comics at the mall. It mainly sells vintage comics, trading cards and toys. He has been planning the new business for a couple months, as he wanted to create an option for both boba tea and coffee drinkers.
“It’s somewhere in between,” Barger said.
While he is not yet releasing a menu, those stopping by can expect many flavors of boba tea, and even boba coffee options. The brews will include espressos, lattes and traditional cold brews. The business is not offering food options.
Barger’s new shop is moving into the mall next to Phoenix Theaters. The mall is on the north side of the city off of N Monroe Street. This would be a first for the shopping center as there are not any other coffee shops at the building.
