A Southern staple is making headway on its planned return to Senatobia. Waffle House has received approvals to open a new location in the area and while a concrete opening timeline isn’t available, the chain’s upcoming home is progressing steadily.
According to local media outlet Tate Record, Senatobia’s city planning commission approved Waffle House’s contingent site plan with three variance requests earlier this year. The beloved’ chain will be opening on Norfleet Drive near the Holiday Inn Express & Suites. The restaurant’s variances include a 10-foot setback for garbage dumpsters, the addition of landscape buffers, and 19 new parking spaces.
While information is coming in more at a trickle than a steady stream, a recent meeting of the City of Senatobia Mayor and Board of Aldermen assures locals they still have reason to be excited about forward momentum. It was stated in the June meeting that “We are waiting on the plans for Waffle House, but they are moving along.”
Area diners will certainly welcome the restaurant’s return with open arms. Waffle House had a location open at 399 E Main Street until its closure several years ago. The chains popular Southern cuisine and all-night dining will be an exciting addition to the local food scene.
