Midlothian is getting a new favorite neighborhood pub, courtesy of a group of friends and an Iowa-based restaurant concept. Franchisees Rajbans Joshi, Vakul Goel, Aarti Mishra, and Pooja Malu are getting ready to introduce Barrel House to the area, reports Richmond Biz Sense.

Barrel House will be taking over the 12646 Stone Village Way storefront that previously housed 101 Crafthouse. The franchisees were kind enough to speak with What Now DC about returning beer and dining to the storefront, explaining what motivated them to open the restaurant. “The four of our families have been great friends and we have worked together.” they state. “We all like food and spending time in restaurants. We spoke to a lot of sports bars. We wanted to open a sports bar that had the right atmosphere, where you could have a conversation. We spoke to Barrel House, tried the food….we loved everything about it. We went and spoke with the owner, they had just started franchising.”

The neighborhood, they explain, is well situated to draw in plenty of foot traffic and to attract local families hungry for a night out. “It’s an upcoming area.” they say. “We came across this location that’s right in the center of that mall, and it could get us the audience that we were looking for. It’s a great family-based restaurant where you can come with your family and sit in and dine and there’s a lot of great family neighborhoods in the area-everything clocked based on what we were looking for.”

Barrel House will be occupying a 3,000 square foot space, with a 400-500 square foot patio. The restaurant should be able to accommodate approximately 100-120 visitors.

While Barrel House does not yet have a definitive opening date for its Midlothian location, the team assures future regulars they want to have it open as quickly as possible and are hoping to be ready to welcome customers in December.

Joshi, Goel, Mishra, and Malu are bringing a great deal of enthusiasm to the project and are eager to welcome locals to Barrel House. They say: “We are excited to bring this new addition to the Richmond market. We’re sure our friends here in Richmond will love it.”
