Jam & Jaggery is a new speakeasy-style cocktail lounge opening in New York City. It is a new concept by chef Aarthi Sampath. Its cocktail menu combines South Indian diaspora flavors with Spanish cocktail techniques and tropical influences.
Jam & Jaggery is Opening in NYC

Chef Aarthi Sampath is opening Jam & Jaggery on September 18. It is a cocktail lounge located downstairs from her restaurant, Drāvida, in New York City. It occupies the lower section of the restored 100-year-old building that houses the restaurant.
Jam & Jaggery will be an extension of the restaurant and will offer cocktails, small bites, and a space for private events. The name Jam & Jaggery reflects the concept behind the lounge. Jaggery is a traditional South Asian unrefined sugar known for its rich flavor, while “Jam” represents sweetness, fun, and energy. Together, the name reflects the lounge’s relaxed and playful atmosphere.
Aarthi, who has won Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay, opened Drāvida just four months ago. It is located in Manhattan’s East Village. The restaurant focuses on regional Indian and South Asian diaspora flavors.
Originally from Mumbai, Aarthi has worked in Michelin-starred kitchens, operated the 39 Kukree food truck, and developed a large-scale meal program with CookUnity. She has also competed on several Food Network shows and will participate in the 2026 Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival in October.
Drāvida has previously been featured in several outlets. This includes The New York Times, Eater New York, amNewYork, The Infatuation, Secret NYC, Resy, and Crain’s New York Business.
Cocktail Program and Menu Highlights

The cocktail menu at Jam & Jaggery combines South Indian diaspora flavors with Spanish cocktail techniques and tropical influences. The space will also serve food, including an Indian-inspired burger designed to pair with the cocktails.
The cocktail menu includes Double Trouble, which features angostura, chana, Lustau PX sherry, Scotch bonnet, cucumber, and lime. It also offers the Badak Old Fashioned, featuring Lustau Cream Sherry, shochu, duck fat, cardamom bitters, and jaggery. There is also a Dirty Currytini, which includes Lustau Fino sherry, sake vermouth, olive vermouth, and curry leaves.
