Fans of wings, burgers, beer, and sports will soon have another spot to settle in.

Buff’s Pub, the longtime Newton favorite known for its wings and lively sports-bar atmosphere, is expanding to Watertown with a new location called Buff’s Burgers & Wings. Boston Restaurant Talk reports that the new restaurant will take over the former site of Belle’s Burgers & Ice Cream just outside Watertown Square at 46 Arsenal Street, just a short distance north of Buff’s original Washington Street outpost near the Newton-Watertown line.

Second-generation owner Wes Fabrizio confirmed the expansion with What Now Boston, noting that the restaurant is currently waiting for its beer and wine license to transfer. Once that process is complete, Fabrizio said he will share more details, including a projected opening timeline. “We are excited for the growth opportunity,” he said.

Founded by Wes’ father, Don Fabrizio, in Newton Corner in 1976, Buff’s Pub is celebrated for its wings, which have earned plenty of local acclaim over the years. Thrillist previously named the pub’s wings among the Best Wings in Boston, while Boston Magazine has also recognized Buff’s in its Best of Boston awards.

And while wings may be the specialty, Buff’s menu also features burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, soups, salads, burritos, and bowls, along with a wide selection of beer, wine, cocktails, ciders, and other beverages.

According to Buff’s Pub’s website, the restaurant gets its name from Buff, the buffalo mounted on the wall who has watched over the pub for decades. “Under his watchful gaze, we’ve kept things simple: award-winning wings in a dozen sauces, a full bar, and every game on one of our 8 TVs,” reads the site. “No reservations. No pretense. Just a booth, a beer, and the best wings in Boston.”

The new Watertown location will have plenty of room for game-day gatherings. Recently filed city permits show that Buff’s Burgers & Wings will occupy 3,914 square feet and have seating for up to 98 guests. The permits list daily hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with a projected conversion completion date of October 19.

Additionally, a Facebook post from Mike Petraglia of electric company Petraglia Services mentions plans for a “massive TV wall with some insane sound.”

For now, the Watertown opening remains dependent on the beer and wine license transfer. Stay tuned for updates as Buff’s Burgers & Wings gets closer to opening its doors.
