Cavender’s Boot City is coming to Carolina Pavilion at 9567 South Boulevard in Charlotte, where the Western wear retailer will occupy part of the former Conn’s Home Plus space. CBJ Newsroom announced the lease on Instagram, reporting that the addition is part of an effort to strengthen the tenant mix at the more than 700,000-square-foot shopping center.
According to this report, Molly Prince Sarn of TSCG, the property’s leasing agent, said the leasing strategy goes beyond filling a vacancy. Sarn explained that the team saw an opportunity to respond to retailer demand, improve the center’s merchandising mix and enhance the property’s long-term value.
According to Cavender’s official company history, James and Pat Cavender founded the business in 1965 in Pittsburg, Texas, initially selling cowboy boots before expanding into a Western wear retailer. The family-owned company has since grown its presence across the country, specializing in Western-inspired footwear, clothing and accessories.
Cavender’s official online store features merchandise for men, women and children, including cowboy boots, jeans, shirts, hats, dresses, belts and accessories. The retailer also carries work boots and apparel, alongside established Western brands such as Ariat, Wrangler and Resistol, as featured in its online product selection.
The Carolina Pavilion lease will bring the retailer’s Western wear assortment to the south Charlotte shopping center. Its merchandise range gives customers access to footwear and apparel suited to Western and workwear styles, adding another specialty retailer to the property’s lineup.
CBJ Newsroom’s announcement did not specify when Cavender’s Boot City is expected to open, how much space the store will occupy or whether construction has begun.
