It is the beginning of a new chapter for the bar and music spot.
River Sun is seeking a new location in the downtown area, per a recent report from Culture Map San Antonio. The concept has been serving cocktails and jazz for the community for about three years, and will be continuing this at a new storefront. While a location has not yet been announced, it will be on the river, and an opening date is to be determined.
The spot first opened on the north side of the River Walk in 2023, and has become a main destination for jazz music in the city. Cocktails like old fashions and espresso martinis are prepared, as well as coffee for the mornings. It is now closing due to structural issues like crumbling walls and rotting floors, but the team is announcing the new location soon.
“This is not a forever goodbye,” says the post from River Sun.
The building is next to El Camino Food Truck Park & Bar on Avenue B, near the intersection of W Jones Avenue. This is near other concepts at the intersection including Commonwealth Coffeehouse & Bakery and Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen. It is still considered the downtown area.
As it gets closer to the opening of the new location, more information will be provided on the team’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
