Recovering recession brings Phipps Plaza from from rags to riches
Simon Property Group’s Phipps Plaza announced moments ago that Bottega Veneta is scheduled to open at the center during summer 2011.
Located at 3500 Peachtree Road NE, the retailer will open a 2,500 square foot boutique, the first of its kind in Georgia.
“Bottega Veneta has been interested in the Atlanta market for a number of years, and we are thrilled that the company determined Phipps Plaza to be the ideal setting for its Atlanta store,” said Tisha Maley, assistant vice president of leasing for Simon Property Group.
“The addition of Bottega Veneta to Phipps demonstrates that the Gucci Group is continuing to invest in its relationship with the center – which is already home to the successful Gucci boutique.”
Bottega Veneta was acquired by Gucci Group in 2001.
The new boutique at Phipps Plaza will carry the company’s full line of clothing, shoes, accessories and gifts for men and women.
Glad to see Phipps Plaza is no longer taking “Cash 4 Gold” tenants.

I’ve heard that BV had a store in Buckhead a few years back that closed. I don’t know (or really care for that matter) if its true but in that case it would not be the first in GA.

Yes, in fact they did. When Phipps Plaza was renovated and expanded to add the Parisian department store in 1992, Bottega Veneta had a small boutique on the first level of the Saks wing, near Saks and on the right side where Jeffery Atlanta is now in the area where the glass angles to make the Saks court wider. Where the angled glass is was the entrance into Bottega Veneta. At that time most Atlantans were not familiar with the brand, and if I remember correctly, the boutique only sold handbags since it was so small. It closed in 1994.
