The Furfaro family, who is behind Mezza Luna in Marietta, have a new concept in the pipeline for this fall. They will open their second restaurant, Osteria Bella, at Halcyon’s Village Green in the former Butcher & Brew space, according to a release. The team is targeting a fall opening date.

Osteria Bella will center around Southern Italian dining. The name is a nod to Bella Furfaro, chef Daniele Furfaro’s wife and business partner. The Furfaros, who are from Calabria, Italy, and relocated to Georgia in 2014, will draw inspiration from their Italian roots to craft the concept.

“I cook the food I grew up with in Calabria, and I want people to feel as though our family has welcomed them into our home,” Daniele said in the release. “Osteria Bella gives us the opportunity to share that hospitality on a bigger stage. Halcyon is already a place where people come together, and we look forward to creating a restaurant where every detail encourages them to stay and enjoy the experience.”

Osteria Bella’s design will aim to provide a warm, hospitable atmosphere. The menu will spotlight Calabrian flavors, including Calabrian peppers, seasonal produce and house-made limoncello. Entrees will include squid-ink tagliatelle with mussels, shrimp, calamari and clams; paccheri with slow-braised duck ragù; and branzino in a lemon-butter sauce with capers and cherry tomatoes. There will also be seasonal menus throughout the year, as well as special events.

Expect to see design elements including a glass storefront, a wraparound quartz bar, porcelain tile and warm lighting. Guests will be able to dine at two- and four-top tables both indoors and outdoors.

The Furfaros became co-owners in Mezza Luna in 2020 and gained full ownership of the restaurant in 2023. This month, the team plans to transition their Mezza Luna location into Trattoria Bella to usher in a new era for their Marietta restaurant.
