Since its founding in 2012 by Gabriel Barajas, TacosWay has seen success by expanding across Southern California and most recently in Tokyo, Japan. A source from TacosWay tells What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) that the expansion is expected to continue in the coming months.
In about a month’s time, TacosWay is expected to open a new location in the Oxnard neighborhood, at 2091 N. Oxnard Boulevard, but this project has temporarily been put on hold due to a fire that occurred in early July. The source also tells WNLA that a location in Placentia is currently on the table, but did not disclose the exact address or expected date of opening.
In the SoCal Restaurant Show podcast, Michael Cardenas, one of the founding partners of Innovative Dining Group, which has headed local eateries like Sushi Roku and Boa Steakhouse, recently discussed the summer opening of TacosWay in Tokyo, Japan. It’s meant to be a “Sushi Roku meets tacos” concept, according to Cardenas, and was originally slated to open in April, but was unable to open due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
TacosWay currently operates in Canoga Park, San Fernando, Northridge, and West Hollywood.
TacosWay is one of three restaurant concepts owned by Barajas that shares the “Way” name including PizzaWay and SushiWay, both of which are also expected to pop-up with locations across SoCal soon.
A previous version of this article stated that there were plans for a TacosWay in Van Nuys at 5608 Van Nuys Boulevard. This location is actually planned to be a PizzaWay, by the same owner.
