Developers are making headway on erecting a new three-unit commercial building in Sorrento Mesa that before the end of the year will be home to a Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s Subs. The new coffee shop will come complete with a drive-thru and will debut first, likely in late July, early August. That’s according to Bryan Cunningham of Flocke & Avoyer, the firm handling leasing for the project.
Jersey Mike’s won’t be too far behind Starbucks with its opening, Cunningham Wednesday told What Now San Diego in a telephone conversation. The sandwich chain will debut in August or September.
The single-story commercial building, at 5969 Lusk Blvd, is being built on land that was previously home to Chili’s Bar & Grill. Chili’s closed its doors in late-2019, according to Cunningham, and was demolished at the end of 2020. One more tenant could join Starbucks and Jersey Mike’s — a 1,370-square-foot end-cap space remains available, for now, anyway. Cunningham said the landlord is evaluating several proposals for the under-construction space.
