Officials from the GNR County Health Department visited Baristaz Cafe on Monday, May 5, 2025, to conduct a routine health inspection. The findings of the inspections revealed several Health Code violations, which mainly stemmed from the lack of managerial control within the establishment. Furthermore, the person in charge showed a lack of food safety knowledge, which also goes against food safety guidelines to be enforced within the state.

The inspectors also observed the PIC’s method of washing their hands and moving on to use a bath towel to dry their hands. Upon noticing this, they ordered the PIC to rewash their hands and utilize single-use disposable towels henceforth.

Moving on, the officials found the accumulation of a mold-like substance in the ice machine. They also observed TCS foods being held above 41 degrees, making this the third consecutive violation of the same code and resulting in the permit suspension. A detailed health report of this inspection can be found online.

Follow-Up Inspection

The officials ordered the suspension of the permit due to 3 consecutive violations of the same code. The permit can be reinstated after on-site training. Meanwhile, a follow-up inspection will be held within the next 10 days to see if other violations have been corrected.
