Chuy’s, the Austin-based Tex-Mex chain, will soon begin building a new location in Austin, according to recent public records. The restaurant will be located at 126 E. Ralph Ablanedo Drive.

The public records in question state that the 6,600 SF restaurant will be “closed and conditioned restaurant with parking and service area.” The $3,000,000 job is estimated to conclude by March 2025.

Narrating the company’s origins on the official website, “Chuy’s opened on April 16, 1982 in an old, abandoned Texas Barbeque joint on iconic Barton Springs Road in Austin, TX. There was seating for about sixty, a women’s restroom the size of a broom closet and a men’s restroom that was, well, outside.”

“Founders Mike Young and John Zapp had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone. From these humble beginnings, Chuy’s was born.”

Until the newest Chuy’s location opens its doors, Tex Mex fans can find 15 locations across the State of Texas, from San Antonio to Dallas-Fort Worth.
