According to public filings, Micholandia is preparing to open a new location at 2115 Riverview Street in Austin. The dessert concept is known for its Mexican-inspired treats, such as paletas, mangonadas, ice cream, aguas frescas, fruit cups, among other offerings. The location is currently targeting an early August opening pending permits, according to Ahmed Hamod, co-founder of Micholandia, . The project involves an 1,800-square-foot interior finish-out at Northwend Shopping Center.

Micholandia has built a growing presence across Texas by offering a menu centered on traditional Mexican desserts, snacks, and beverages. What Now Austin spoke with Ahmed Hamod, co-founder of Micholandia, about the company’s continued growth throughout the state:  “Micholandia’s growth across Texas has been driven by authenticity, quality, and the fact that the brand really connects with people across different communities. We offer an experience that feels fun, welcoming, and rooted in real flavor, and that has helped us build strong momentum,” Ahmed said.

Unlike traditional franchise systems, Micholandia operates under a licensing model that allows operators greater independence while still providing access to the brand, recipes, and business framework. According to the company, this approach is designed to give entrepreneurs more operational flexibility than a conventional franchise arrangement. The upcoming Austin location will be operated by a licensed owner who wished to remain anonymous at the time of publication.

Texas remains a key market for the brand as it continues evaluating future development opportunities. “We’re exploring additional development opportunities and new locations, but we’re focused on growing the right way, with the right markets, the right operators, and the right support behind each location,” the co-founder told What Now Austin.
