Flip The Bird Shutters Swampscott Restaurant as Lease Expires

A popular North Shore fried chicken staple, Flip The Bird was located at 450 Paradise Road. The menu featured fried chicken sandwiches, biscuits, waffles, and other comfort-food offerings.

On June 19, the restaurant team shared, “As our lease in Swampscott comes to an end, we have made the decision not to renew and to close this Flip The Bird location.”

The team cited financial pressures, including rising construction costs, rent increases, operating expenses, and higher food prices, as factors behind the closure.

“The overall cost of doing business has made it increasingly difficult to sustain growth and expansion while maintaining the quality and service our wonderful guests have come to expect from us,” mentioned the team.

The team behind the restaurant thanked the community and wrote, “We are deeply grateful to our staff, customers, and the Swampscott community for your support throughout our journey.”

Plans Return with New Location

According to the announcement post, the Flip The Bird team is actively looking for a new space near the Swampscott region to reopen soon.

“We are currently looking for a new location in and around the Swampscott area to reopen, as we’ve had great success here over the past 5 years!” stated the team.

The team also has plans to focus its resources and strengthen the business so that it can grow stronger for the future. The company’s Beverly and Danvers locations will remain open.

The Swampscott closure leaves the chain operating from its Beverly and Danvers locations.
