An award-winning cheesecake shop with roots in New York City is coming to North Myrtle Beach.

Grandpa Moustache’s Cheesecakes will soon open at 3324 Highway 17 South in the North Village Shopping Center, according to The Sun News.

After three decades of selling his signature desserts out of a rented commercial kitchen and at various New York restaurants, retired police sergeant Peter Brown is launching his first brick-and-mortar storefront. He and his wife, June, who recently relocated to Little River, have been sharing their cheesecakes with neighbors as they prepare to open the new shop.

Peter, known as Grandpa Moustache for his distinctive ‘stache, began baking in 2013 using a friend’s cheesecake recipe. When he lost the original recipe, he decided to recreate it from memory, eventually developing his own unique version through extensive taste testing. His cakes have won 13 ribbons over three consecutive years at the New Jersey State Fair, as reported by The Sun News.

Grandpa Moustache’s Cheesecakes will feature flavors such as key lime, chocolate, butter pecan, turtle cheesecake, and Baileys Irish Cream alongside the classic plain cheesecake. Keto, gluten-free, and sugar-free options, as well as rice pudding, will also be available.

The shop is currently undergoing renovations and is slated to open sometime this fall. Meanwhile, Brown is busy cooking up exciting new flavors.
