FreRa, a new dessert and coffee bar, will open at 1722 N. Western Avenue, on the edge of Wicker Park. The eatery is the project of Chef Pavlina Manahov, a plant-based chef with a penchant for sweets.
A permit application issued on January 19th by the City of Chicago indicates the space, which last housed Ladies Workout Express, will undergo renovations to buildout the ground floor coffee house.
Manahov shares her artisan desserts over social media, and the elegantly decorated pastries range in variety from Mango Cake with Lemon Frosting and Hazelnut Cake to White Chocolate with Salted Caramel Fig Sauce and a Rosemary Walnut Crumble. Plant-based vanilla ice cream and raw ice cream cakes are also in Manahov’s wheel-house. All are plant-based made using fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
While not too many details about FreRa have been revealed just yet, Manahov’s social media indicates Madga Rauscher with My Modern Dom is at work on the interior design for the space on N. Western Avenue.
What Now Chicago is awaiting more details from Manahov on the opening timeline for FreRa, and this story will be updated as they become available.
They’re desserts are delicious, and I’m not even vegan!
