A brand new brewery called Goodtimes Brewery looks to be moving into the space previously occupied by Smylie Brothers Brewing in Lakeview, located at 3827 N Broadway.

The Smylie Brothers had to close their Lakeview location late last year after 12 months, and have also closed their Evanston brewery. Now, a new brewery, owned and operated by Manoj Rami and Kristian Cho, appears to be moving into its place, according to a recent liquor license application. Cho is currently the executive chef for Positive Food Company. The owners declined to answer additional questions from What Now Chicago.

“It is with deep regret that we inform you that Smylie Brothers Brewing Co. located here at 3827 N. Broadway has closed its doors permanently,” Smylie Brothers wrote on a sign to announce the closure. “It has been an absolute pleasure to serve the local community for the near 12 months that we were open, and we are so grateful for the support you have given us.”

When the new brewery opens later this year, it will sit on the ground floor of an apartment complex across from Gill (Joseph) Park. This will be a perfect location for the brewery, considering there aren’t many other breweries nearby. The next closest type of business will be Greenstar Brewery on Clark St. On top of the lack of competition, the brewery will serve as a perfect destination following dinner at one of the many eateries in the area.
