A brand new restaurant called The Evie is set to make its debut in Streetervile, located at 535 N. Michigan Ave.

The new 7,100-square-foot restaurant will occupy the entire second floor, according to Crains Business Chicago via CoStar. The Evie, which is named after owner George Anchos‘ daughter, who just turned 14, is set to open in June 2023. Anchos is a local business owner who has two nearby locations of Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe and serves as the CEO of the cannabis company Verano Holdings. He will move this new restaurant into the former home of Bandera, which closed during the pandemic and never reopened.

“It’s a little bit of a different vibe (than Bandera), still very warm and comfortable,” Anchos tells Crains. “It will “have a beautiful view of Michigan Avenue.”

When the new restaurant opens, customers can expect a menu that ranges from about $15 to $60 with lunch, dinner, and bar options. Some items to be offered at The Evie include classic salads and sandwiches, such as crispy chicken and prime rib, a made-from-scratch burger, pasta, and more. Anchos’ two Wildberry locations are both located near Magnificent Mile, and he says the area has seen a slow but steady recovery since the pandemic.

“Michigan Avenue is on its way back,” Archos said. “It’s not back to where it was, but I’m very optimistic about the future. If you saw last summer in Chicago, Michigan Avenue was hopping.”
