Following their success in West Loop, the team is moving to a new neighborhood.
It is being reported the Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio owners have plans for a new concept called Trattoria Lo So at 2048 W Armitage Ave. The chefs behind the project are James Beard Award-winner Sarah Grueneberg and Bailey Sullivan. Right now, the team is aiming to open early next year.
As the name suggests, the restaurant is going to serve Italian cuisine with a wood-fired oven at the space. An official menu hasn’t been released, but dishes will be served with fresh ingredients. Food inspired by the dishes prepared at Monteverde can also be expected.
Monteverde opened in November 2015 at 1020 W Madison Street, serving experimental Italian cuisine with cocktails and wine. The restaurant really helped put Grueneberg on the map, and was inspired by her trips around the world. For this new project, the team is hoping to introduce many similar international flavors.
The new restaurant is opening near the intersection of N Hoyne Avenue, across the street from Map Room bar. A Starbucks is on the other side of the intersection, and Ed and Jean’s Tavern is also only a few storefronts down. The Western Blue Line CTA station is a few blocks west of the storefront.
Right now, the restaurant is in the planning stages and does not have a website online. More information will be made available in the coming months.
