Local Quilter Building Brick-and-Mortar to Sell Crafts in Gurnee This Fall

The owner of an at-home quilting business is making a major transition.

A new business selling premium fabrics and quilting supplies is coming to the suburb.

The team at Dearly Quilted has been teasing their new concept under construction at 1333 N Delaney Road, Suite 600 in Gurnee. Owner Ligia Colello has been operating her business from home for the past year-and-a-half and has now decided to debut a brick-and-mortar. Colello What Now Chicago she is hoping to have a soft opening around Aug. 15, with a grand opening goal of Sept. 12.

Colello said she wants this to be a Jo-Ann Fabrics type shop for the community. On the Dearly Quilted website, she displays some of her large quilts with patterned designs in a variety of colors.

“My goal as a quilter is to make the quilting look custom by the way I carefully select the quilting design to match your quilt top. My personal aesthetic leans toward modern-looking, often geometric, and abstract quilting designs. I also favor more dense quilting with the goal of giving your top a lovely texture that compliments your patchwork,” says an excerpt from the website.

The shop is opening at the intersection of N Delaney Road and Grove Avenue, sharing the building with Grand Animal Hospital – Hometown Veterinary Partners Gurnee. This is also across from Gurnee Express Car Wash, and a Wendy’s is also on the other side of the intersection.

Colello is redeveloping to website to be more “point-of-sale” oriented, and it will showcase some of the products sold soon. More updates on Dearly Quilted and the opening date can be found on their Instagram @dearlyquilted.
