Dog Haus is preparing to make its Columbus debut, with plans to open its first Ohio location in the Gateway University District near The Ohio State University by late summer, according to Columbus Business First.
The Pasadena, California-based brand previously announced the High Street site at 1576 N. High St., a space that most recently housed two Irish pubs and has remained vacant for several years.
While an exact opening date has not been confirmed, the company told the publication mentioned above that it expects to begin welcoming guests by late summer and has already started hiring for the new restaurant. Positions currently available include managers as well as front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
The Columbus location will be operated by franchisees Cherokee and Michelle Rhoda, who plan to open 12 restaurants across Ohio and Arkansas, with the High Street store serving as their first.
Cherokee Rhoda told the publication mentioned above that Columbus has a strong energy and a rapidly growing food scene, adding that the team is excited to bring Dog Haus to the market. She also noted they look forward to welcoming Ohio State students, alumni, and fans seeking a fun atmosphere and quality food.
The site selection was previously highlighted by Dog Haus vice president of franchising Erik Hartung, who told Columbus Business First that the High Street corridor stood out due to its proximity to Ohio State’s student population and the Short North, as well as strong delivery demand in the area.
Founded in Pasadena in 2010, Dog Haus has grown to more than 50 locations nationwide, with more than 20 additional restaurants in development. The concept is known for its over-the-top, chef-driven menu featuring all-beef hot dogs, proprietary sausages, Black Angus burgers, and plant-based options, all served on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls.
Signature menu items include the Sooo Cali, topped with avocado, tomatoes, crispy onions, and spicy basil aioli, and the Old Town, featuring smoked bacon, caramelized onions, pickled jalapeños, cotija cheese, and chipotle aioli. Guests can also build their own creations from a wide range of toppings.
Despite the name, the brand’s all-day Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos remain among its best-selling items.
What Now Columbus reached out for additional information regarding the opening timeline, but did not receive a response at the time of publication. This article will be updated as more details become available.
