A neighborhood tavern concept will be moving in behind Wildcat Mountaineering in Lyons, located at 430 Main St, according to city records. The owner of the mountaineering gear shop, Anthony Miller, will also run the watering hole, to be coined The Wayback Bar.

Miller told What Now Denver the business will be “a speak-easy type of location” that is accessed via an alleyway and offers a sort of hidden retreat. He said there will be a full bar, and that a menu is still being worked out but they will serve tamales.

He established an entity called Wildcat Tavern LLC last year and entered into a leasing agreement regarding the bar space, documents show. A public notice shows that a hearing was held in January and the Lyons Liquor Licensing Authority approved a liquor license for the facility in February.

Wildcat Mountaineering opened last year and has been a staple in the community, serving as a great resource for those interested in hiking, camping, fly fishing, and climbing adventures. The shop carries gear and also offers guides for mountain activities, its website shows.
