A new Jersey Mike’s Subs location is on its way to Fort Collins, with plans revealed in construction documents for a 1,550-square-foot space at 2539 S. College Ave., Suite 109. The new shop will open next to the King Soopers at the corner of College Avenue and Drake Road.

The project involves a full tenant build-out with some minor demolition required. MPA Architects, Inc. is listed as the design firm, while the general contractor is still being selected. The building will accommodate 44 occupants.

Franchisee Bob Troilo, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and longtime Northern Colorado business owner, is spearheading the project. Troilo told What Now Denver the project comes after five years of searching for space in Fort Collins and described the midtown location as an ideal fit.

Troilo expects to begin hiring in June and July, ahead of a planned opening in August. He currently operates five other Jersey Mike’s locations under his corporation Semper Subs, LLC, his LinkedIn shows. Those stores are in Longmont, Firestone, Lafayette, and Louisville.

“The community is starved for our fresh sliced / fresh grilled subs,” he said. “We are also excited to engage the community we serve via local charity partners for fundraising and giving back to local causes.”

Jersey Mike’s was originally founded in 1956 as Mike’s Subs in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. CEO Peter Cancro bought the shop at just 17 years old and began franchising the brand in the 1980s, The Daily Meal writes. There are now more than 2,500 outposts of the business across the country.
