Denny’s diner at 565 Union Blvd. in Lakewood is undergoing a complete rebuild following a fire that broke out last July. According to construction records, the business is working on renovations to the property, which saw extensive damage after the blaze.

On the morning of July 16, a grease fire broke out in the eatery’s kitchen and spread to the attic, Denver Post reported. The 5,558-square-foot restaurant had to be evacuated and has been closed since. While a reopening date has not been announced at the company did not respond to requests for comment, its website states it is “coming soon”.

The remodel is being led by architect Michael Pancirov of Sparc Design. Plans call for a full commercial kitchen remodel with new HVAC, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and food service equipment, along with updates to seating, lighting, and interior finishes throughout the dining area. It also includes repairing fire-damaged roofing.

This location is owned by G2G Management Group, a franchisee that operates over 40 Denny’s across Colorado, California, and Nevada. It is one of their largest ownership groups, and CEO Vince Eupierre has more than 30 years of experience with the brand. G2G has been recognized for awards like the Denny’s Development Achievement Award in 2009 and the Highest Volume New Store Opening, its website states.
