The Bread Chic, a beloved Fort Collins bakery, is expanding with a second location in town, The Coloradoan reports. It will be moving into the Scotch Pines Village shopping center at 2601 S. Lemay Ave., taking over the space previously occupied by Great Harvest Bread Co.

Known for its artisan sourdough bread and handmade pies, the bakery was founded by Christie Rich in 2008 as a cottage venture. In 2022, Rich was able to open her first brick-and-mortar store in Old Town.

Great Harvest Bread Co. closed in December, announcing on Facebook that the owner would be moving to Kansas to work on a Ranch. “After 17 years of kneading, baking, and filling your stomachs (and hearts) with warmth and joy, the time has come for us to say goodbye. Our ovens will be turned off, our rolling pins retired, and the wheat mill will get a deserved rest,” it wrote.

Since that business moved out, The Bread Chic has kept customers updated on its progress. Two weeks ago, it posted that they had possession of the keys and put up temporary signing on the building. No opening date has been announced yet.
