Zocalo, a beloved authentic Mexican restaurant at 418 South Tejon Street, is set to expand its dining experience with the addition of a new outdoor patio. Permits show that two fenced-in areas with counter and outdoor cafe seating will be added.
The project is part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing outdoor dining in the downtown area, called the Tejon Street Revitalization Project. A press release from the city explains that work will commence on March 24 and last until December.
These changes include adding more outdoor dining, lighting, and landscaping on Tejon Street between Colorado Avenue and Kiowa Avenue. It will happen in phases, and to mitigate the impact on the retail businesses in the area, customers will receive free 2-hour parking vouchers.
Zocalo has built a reputation for its fresh ingredients and vibrant atmosphere. The eatery serves popular items like tacos, queso, sopes, taquitos, and made-to-order chicken tortilla soup. It also has a diverse selection of tequilas and an extensive happy hour menu available Monday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
