In an era where innovation meets passion, Chris Pena‘s latest venture is all set to make a mark. After dedicating 13 long years to the steel industry, Pena yearned for a change and decided to combine his business acumen with his love for golf. His vision is about to materialize with the launch of a new franchised X-Golf outpost at 3329 W Grand Pkwy N, Katy, TX 77449.
His time on the green spans over 25 years, and he wanted to find a way to integrate his passion into his daily life. After researching various avenues, his exploration led him to the realm of indoor golf, and after visiting an X-Golf facility in Dallas last December, he was sold on the idea. “I was impressed by the accuracy and technology,” Pena recalled.
This location of X-Golf will include 8 golfing bays, a 30-seat bar, and will have the personal touch from Pena, as the corporate office loosens the reins when it comes to the aesthetics and design aspects. There will also be an on-staff PGA professional to offer lessons, X-Golf tournaments, and year-round local leagues with prizes. Private events are welcome and allow for renting from one bay up to the entire facility. And no space will go unused as Pena has plans to put in a pool table, shuffleboard, and even a putting game.
Katy, a rapidly growing community, was chosen for its immense growth potential and noticeable gap in entertainment hubs and bars of X-Golf’s caliber. “The location is in a high traffic area, making it an opportunity too perfect to pass up on,” Pena said.
Pena’s ambitions don’t halt here. He envisions expanding his X-Golf footprint with two more locations, targeting The Woodlands and South Houston in the Sugar Land area. And if these ventures mirror the success he anticipates, the heart of Houston is next on his radar.
This family-friendly facility will fill 8195 square feet, and is slated for construction to begin in the “next week or so.” Then come November 2023, Houston will be introduced to its first X-Golf.
