Culinary Matters is Opening Petite Lucie in Houston

A new French-inspired dining destination is opening in Houston this weekend. Petite Lucie will soft open May 30 Market Square Park. The concept comes from Culinary Matters and will operate as a café, bakery, and garden bar.
The café is designed to offer a relaxed yet romantic atmosphere. It aims to become a social gathering spot for both locals and visitors near Houston’s theater district. Petite Lucie will open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“At its core, Petite Lucie is about creating moments of escape and discovery in the middle of the city,” said Chef Omar Pereney. “We wanted to build something romantic but approachable — a place where someone can stop in for a croissant and espresso in the morning, meet friends for cocktails in the afternoon, or linger over a casual dinner under the stars at night.”
Inside the New Dining Spot
The design of Petite Lucie was created to blend naturally into the atmosphere of the neighborhood. It gives the feeling of a stylish Parisian cafe in the middle of downtown Houston. Gensler designed the project and features several small art-decor-inspired structures.
The cafe includes a covered dining pavilion, an indoor-outdoor cocktail bar, and an open kitchen layout. The goal was to make the space feel as though it had always belonged in the park. The indoor-outdoor living design ensures guests can move easily between the spaces.
The warm lighting, layered greenery, landscaped lawns, and classic details help create a relaxed atmosphere. Surrounded by some of the city’s oldest commercial buildings, the space feels both timeless and urban
